Altra Men’s Lone Peak 7: Conquering the Trails in Comfort and Style
I’m not going to lie, I’ve been through a lot of trail shoes. From clunky behemoths to minimalist nightmares, I’ve seen it all. But the Altra Lone Peak 7? This, my friends, is a game-changer. It’s like they took everything I love about trail running and distilled it into one perfect shoe.**First things first:** comfort. These shoes are like plush pillows for your feet, even after miles of gnarled roots and rocky ascents. The zero-drop platform and wide toe box let your toes splay naturally, preventing that cramped feeling at the end of a long run. And the Altra EGO™ midsole? It’s like running on a cloud of springy goodness, soaking up impact and keeping your legs feeling fresh.**But don’t let the comfort fool you.** These shoes are grippy beasts. The MaxTrac™ outsole digs into loose dirt, hugs wet rocks, and laughs in the face of mud. I’ve scrambled up scree fields and bombed down loose gravel slopes with unwavering confidence. The 5mm lugs are the perfect depth, providing traction without feeling clunky.**And the upper?** It’s a thing of beauty. The seamless, stitch-less construction is like a zweite Haut, disappearing around your foot and moving with you like a second skin. It’s breathable enough for summer sun and surprisingly water-resistant for those surprise puddles. Plus, it looks sharp. I’ve gotten compliments on these shoes from fellow trail runners and city slickers alike.**Sure, no shoe is perfect.** Some folks might find the wide toe box a bit roomy (though I love it for toe wiggle room on long runs). And the price tag might make some wince. But for me, the Lone Peak 7 is worth every penny. It’s an investment in your feet, your enjoyment of the trails, and your overall trail running experience.**So, if you’re looking for a trail shoe that’s comfortable, grippy, stylish, and built to last, look no further.** The Altra Lone Peak 7 is the real deal. It’s not just a shoe, it’s a trail running soulmate.**Five out of five stars, hands down.** Buy these shoes. Your feet will thank you.**P.S.** I almost forgot about the StoneGuard! This little rock plate is a lifesaver on technical trails, shielding your feet from those sneaky hidden stones. Just another thoughtful detail that makes the Lone Peak 7 such a winner.

    Top rated hiking shoe
This is my second pair of ALTRA Lone Peak 7 shoes in this colour. My first pair wore out around the heels and parts of the soles after multiple long distance hikes (1,000 KMs +) across Spain, Italy and Switzerland and up Mount Kilimanjaro (apart from Summit day) and various other hikes and mountains. I found them very comfortable from the get go. The wide toe box ensures next to no toe friction avoiding any blisters. There is plenty of grip (although I would prefer a Vibram sole) and enough cushioning in the sole across rocky terrain. I love the colour and design and preferred to stick with the 7 rather than the 8 for that reason. I own a pair of LP 6s and the major improvement in the 7 for me is that they let in less water when walking across wet fields and grass. They still let in a lot through the fabric so I take alternative socks and soles to change in to. But overall outstanding.

Good shoe but has some downsides
It is comfortable and I got it mainly because of the wide toe box and it is not a barefoot shoe. But the insole feels cheap and along with that the tread wears away very quickly I have had this for 6 months and I will be running low on tread. Other than that it is a comfortable shoe and only gripes are those other than that it is very nice and my feet have all the space they need.

Zero drop shoes for many activities
Zero drop shoes have made a difference in my life and knee and back. The Altra Lone Peak is great for trail running, hiking and rucking. I have had several pairs and am impressed with quality and fit.

    Great for Morton’s Neuroma
I have Morton’s Neuroma in both feet. I’m size 11 wide. This shoe is wide AND has a wide toe box (which are not the same thing). A wide toe box is important, because it can help prevent getting Morton’s Neuroma OR if you already have Morton’s Neuroma, it can help prevent it from getting worse. I got a half size up (11.5 wide). I wish it had more cushion though. I wanted to get the Altra Olympus; which has the max cushion available from Altra, but they don’t sell it in wide, so I had to settle with the Lone Peak. I hope Altra makes the Olympus in wide one day. These shoes distribute force evenly outwards, so minimal weight is placed on the Neuroma; however it will still aggravate your neuroma, but due to the wide toe box, it will help prevent it from getting worse; because Morton’s Neuroma usually occurs from having shoes that are too tight in the toe region.I my previous shoe was Reebok DMX Extra Wide, but these shoes have WAY too much cushion due to them working with air below the sole; about three times more cushion than the lone peak, the problem with this shoe is that your foot sinks and sinks into the cushion unevenly, and the neuroma will pop out and then the cushion crushes your neuroma which is BAD, too much cushion is a bad thing, Altra understands this. So don’t get too much cushion. I tried the Altra Olympus and it has the perfect amount of cushion IMO, and these Lone Peak’s are good too.I’m happy with this shoe until Altra make’s the Olympus in Wide; since it also has the wide toe box.

    Best Trail Shoes. Period!
Hands down the BEST trail running shoes I’ve owned! Good grip, wide toe box, feels well built. Laces stay put (annoying when they come undone, like in my other pairs). Zero drop heel to toe! So far, I’ve done 2 walks and 2 runs of 2+ miles on (technical trails) and they feel great!! Wish there was just a little more cushion. It’s great when running over mud or softer trails, but can feel the rocks a tiny bit when I cross them. But overall – super! I am motivated to skip the gym or other workouts to go to the trails in these!!!! I got the tan pair – am ordering one more. Lots more running planned for this year!!😄😄

They are without a doubt the most comfortable pair of footwear I currently own, however this is my second pair after having to return the first due to them being way too big. I did buy the wide fitting version and typically wear a UK11 but I ordered these in a UK10 and they are literally perfect. I have walked over 20 miles in them since I got them on Friday and they are brilliant. Good quality, light, comfortable and they look decent too.
