Really good value with active noise cancellation
I owned a previous version of the NC9’s from 2022 that were a bit different than these, and as often happens with these little earbuds in a small charging case, I recently lost them somewhere, probably in my last hotel room. Beware of spending too much on earbuds – you absolutely will go through multiple sets of them.I was really happy with those earbuds for the price I paid at the time, which was a little over $10. So I figured rather than trying to wade through all the nonsensical marketing-speak on Amazon or the ridiculously overpriced offerings from Apple and other major brands, I’d just get the latest version of the same thing I had.And so far, these are pretty great for the price and a definite upgrade over the 2022 version. Now, I will say that while I’m not an audiophile, I could probably call myself an “audio enthusiast” and I don’t think any earbuds from anybody sound all that great either on their own or when compared with decent full size headphones. That’s one reason why I refuse to pay anything close to the $200 that’s the standard price for major brand earbuds. These are tiny drivers using a low-powered DAC chip and DSP, getting a lossily compressed audio signal over a low-bandwidth wireless codec. It’s just the nature of the beast. No earbuds anywhere are worth more than about 50 bucks, and that’s with the profit baked in. Anything above that is just a name brand tax. (And these days, maybe a tariff.)But these sound perfectly fine for what they are and basically as good as any other wireless earbuds I’ve ever used. I did notice some sibilance with the default EQ – like most (all?) modern wireless earbuds, these accentuate bass and treble. But a quick adjustment to the high frequencies in the phone app (something that my older NC9’s didn’t support) seems to have cured that. There is of course still a bit of extra bass, but I’ll leave that alone for now as I don’t mind it. I can always adjust it later if I feel differently down the road. One minor quibble with the sound is that possibly because of that extra bass and treble, these don’t get very loud. At maximum volume, they’re about where I normally feel comfortable in regular listening, but they start to break up a bit before that. My guess is that Tozo has reduced the maximum output to control distortion, which isn’t unique to them, but again, don’t expect a high-end over the ear headphone experience here for 30 bucks. You just can’t listen very loud with a lot of bass through tiny drivers like these without distortion. I don’t think most people wearing earbuds listen as loud as I normally like to anyway. If this so far sounds like faint praise in a 5 star review, again, look at the price. You are getting a good value in sound quality, especially when you compare these to much more expensive earbuds that don’t sound any better. If Apple were selling these and charging Airpod Pro prices, you’d be looking at a 2 star review. But these are priced fairly given their performance and the limitations of the category.Tozo also sells earbuds without the active noise cancellation but I bought these specifically for that, because it worked well on my previous NC9’s and it seems to work at least as well and probably better on these. Keep in mind that noise cancellation in general was specifically developed to counter engine noise on airplanes. And that’s still what the technology is best at.The way it works is by pushing out a specific frequency to act counter to the frequency of whatever continuous noise is present. It’s not going to be very effective at silencing things like conversations or crying babies that are made up of variable, higher frequency sounds (because countering those would also affect the music you’re listening to, not to mention using a lot more processing power, which also uses a lot more battery). That, again, is the nature of the beast. It applies to every set of earbuds that have ANC. But in terms of continuous background noise, such as from a jet engine or a loud fan, these work as well as anything else I’ve used. And I’ve used a lot of headphones and earbuds (as well as real aviation headsets) with active noise cancellation. The ANC also does not really alter the sound of the music you’re listening to, which my older NC9’s kinda did with the ANC on, and it’s a pretty common issue with older devices that use ANC. Seems like it’s more refined now and I don’t really notice much difference, if any, in sound quality with ANC on or off. There was a time only a few years ago when you’d need to spend a few hundred bucks to get ANC at all, and that would have been in a set of wired full size headphones. Now we’re talking about how well it works in a $30 set of wireless earbuds. It’s kind of amazing if you think about it. I think real ANC alone is basically worth the price of admission here. There are a lot of earbuds in this price range that advertise “ENC” but that is not the same thing – that’s for reducing noise on your voice when talking on phone calls. ANC is for listening to music. It’s rare at this price, even now. For it to work this well is a huge bonus.Battery life is a definite step up from my older NC9’s, although to be fair those were probably also just wearing out by the time I lost them. I intentionally tried to run these down while writing this review and after about 5 hours of constant listening, they were still going strong and when I put them in the charging case, it read 83%. Of course that’s the total charge including the case battery, not the buds themselves. I have no idea how accurate that is but if it is correct, then that’s probably more battery life than I would ever really need. (You can never have too much, but I can’t think of a situation when I’d run out of battery life before being able to recharge.)I read another review where someone said the case on these did not close securely; that is not true. I’d think he must have been using a different version (the reviews here seem to cover all previous versions as well), but I had older ones and that case closed securely too. It’s magnetic. The earbuds kind of pull themselves into their little cubbies if you’ve oriented them the right way, and then the case cover snaps closed with its own magnet. If the case is not closing properly, you’re not putting the buds in the right way. They only go one way. You’ll get it after a couple tries. Just take note of how they’re oriented when you first open the case.Overall I can pretty confidently recommend these. Given that modern phones and many other devices no longer even have headphone jacks, you really need a set of wireless earbuds. Just get these; they’re as good as more expensive earbuds and the price is fair. You can’t say that about most name brand earbuds.

    NC9 vs NC9 PRO vs T12 PRO
There are so many products from TOZO, it was difficult to choose the “best.” I purchased the NC9 model and was impressed. But the T12 and other models’ specs and features seemed so tempting! Are the NC9 really the best? I reached out to the company, but didn’t get a clear answer. So, I decided to test. I purchased the NC9 Pro and the T12 Pro. I only purchased the TOZO products with the largest driver diameter because I want to hear deep bass when listening to music. I also like to listen to music in bed; earbuds which will not fall out or be uncomfortable when placing my ear on a pillow are a must. Here are the differences I noted, and my recommendations.THE “TOZO SOUND” MOBILE APPWhich TOZO devices are compatible with the TOZO Sound app?- The TOZO Sound app is currently compatible with models T6S, T10S, NC2 Pro, NC7 Pro, NC9 Pro and NC9 Pro Max.- The NC9 Pro Max model doesn’t appear to be available as of this writing.- From the products I tested, only the NC9 Pro works with the app.- The T12 Pro and NC9 are not recognized by the app.The TOZO Sound mobile app main features:- Equalizer that actually works- Programmable earbud button controls- More noise canceling options, including custom mode(must use app to set – extra modes don’t cycle when pressing the earbuds button).PHYSICAL DIFFERENCESThe NC9 and NC9 Pro are essentially the same, except:- The NC9 Pro has updated voice/sound feedback and seems to respond a little faster.- The NC9 Pro works with the TOZO Sound mobile app.- Slight cosmetic differences (more below).- Both the NC9 and NC9 Pro models feature active noise canceling and transparent mode. The T12 Pro earbuds and charger feature a different design.- The overall size is about the same as the NC9/NC9 Pro, but more round.- The earbuds are designed to fit a little deeper in the ear canal.- The T12 Pro features a larger “power bank” charging case with detailed battery stats.- The T12 Pro does not feature any noise canceling or transparent modes.MINOR DIFFERENCES- The NC9 Pro earbuds have “TOZO” printed on the outside and “L” and “R” printed on the inside.- The NC9 earbuds have “L” and “R” printed on the outside, TOZO on the inside.- The T12 Pro has detailed charger and earbud battery stats.- The NC9 and NC9 Pro have simple indicator lights.- The NC9 Pro charging case lights blink faster than the NC9 when the case is charging.- The NC9 pairs once you take the earbuds out of the charging case.- The NC9 Pro and T12 Pro will pair as soon as you open the charging case lid.SOUND QUALITY DIFFERENCEST12 Pro- The T12 Pro earbuds feature the deepest bass, though it’s only a little more than the NC9/NC9 Pro.- They seem to be factory-tuned for big bass with slightly muted mid and higher frequencies.NC9/NC9 Pro- The NC9 and NC9 Pro are factory-tuned with louder, clear vocals and highs, and still have rich bass.NC9 Pro Advantage “Cheat Mode”- With the TOZO Sound app “Bass +” equalizer setting, the NC9 Pro can be tuned to produce as much bass as the T12 Pro,- All while keeping the clear vocals and highs.ACTIVE NOISE CANCELING & TRANSPARENT MODE – WHAT TO EXPECTIt is my opinion that the active noise canceling and “transparent mode” features in the NC9/NC9 Pro are just too good to pass up. However, they don’t block ALL sounds. Here’s what to expect.Active Noise Canceling:- Works great for erasing continuous “white noise” from wind, airplanes, cars, fans, machinery, etc.- Really erases most white noise. Airplane noise gone. Car noise gone. Yes, that too.- Doesn’t block all shorter or sharp sounds.- Doesn’t block all rain noise.- You’ll still hear muffled sounds of people talking, dogs barking, etc.- You’ll still hear some white noise if wearing earbud seals too small for your ear.Transparent Mode:- Great for hearing people talking, airlines announcements, etc. while wearing earbuds.- Depending on the volume, you may need to pause your music to clearly hear outside noise.- Also amplifies white noise; it may not be so great to use this mode all the time.ANC Off – Standard Mode:- Still blocks some sounds, but doesn’t block white noise.- You’ll hear muffled sounds of people talking, dogs barking, etc.- NC9/NC9 Pro earbud batteries really last over 10 hours when using this mode (about 30% volume).- Perfect in a quieter environment when you don’t have to pay attention to others talking.RECOMMENDATIONS – TL;DRPlease keep in mind: all of these TOZO models sound great. If you’re used to laptop speakers or the tiny, wired earbuds included with your mobile device, you’ll likely be amazed at the sound quality difference.NC9 Pro: In my opinion, the NC9 Pro provides the best choice of features in regards to app-adjustable sound and noise cancelation. If you love these features, don’t need the power bank charger feature of the T12 Pro, and don’t mind the higher price, the NC9 Pro may be your best choice.NC9: The NC9 model sounds great and works well. To be honest, I often set my NC9 Pro equalizer feature to flat/standard because “bass +” is just too much bass. So, my NC9 sounds the same as my NC9 Pro. Considering the lower price point, the NC9 is very tempting.T12 Pro: If you must have the power bank charger feature, and the noise canceling or app features don’t appeal to you, the T12 may be for you. Still, may I recommend the NC9?T12: In my opinion, this model doesn’t offer any advantages over the NC9 (no power bank charger). Buy the NC9 instead.MISC NOTES – PROS/CONS- In all models I tested, the microphones pick up loud outside noise (i.e. airports arrivals area), which makes it difficult to use for calling (your friend can’t hear you). They work well in quieter environments.- I have smaller ears. I found the NC9/NC9 Pro earbuds fit better and were more comfortable than the T12 earbuds, especially when placing my ear on a pillow. Even though they’re similar in size, the T12 earbuds seem to stick out of my ears more. They may work better for people with larger ears.- The earbud buttons on all models are very sensitive. They’ll trigger if you accidentally touch them with your arm, hand, etc.- When skipping tracks, I’ve found it’s easier to just lightly double-tap the earbud button with the palm of my hand, or even my arm, than to try to locate it with a finger.I hope this review has been helpful!

Happy with my choice but . . .
These are very good earbuds . . . clear, crisp sound quality. Paired quickly with my laptop, but I had some challenges getting them to pair with my phone, because you cannot connect them with more than one device at a time. I had to disconnect them from my laptop to pair with my phone and vice-versa. Once I did that, the app paired the earbuds with my phone and I was able to fiddle around with the settings and options. The EQ function seems pretty good. Comes with 6 pairs of ear cushions. Good seal for ANC.After using them for about 2 weeks, the on-time is pretty close to the product description — between 8-10 hours, and the charging case is good for about 3-4 full recharges — and restoring the case to 100% is fairly quick (about 3-4 hours). The downside to these earbuds is the touch controls on left and right buds are not always easy to manipulate (such as changing noise cancellation setting or adjusting volume). The only annoying thing is that you sometimes don’t get any low power warning — the earbuds just go silent.I use these almost exclusively with my laptop, and they work well for things like Zoom metings, but the antenna range is limited to no more than about 25 feet, so wandering away from the computer sometimes results in loss of signal until back in range. So when I’m at home and leave my office to go to the kitchen, if I’m listening to something on the computer, such as music or news via SiriusXM, I might lose some of the audio . . . a minor inconvenience (I have another brand of earbuds that work up to 50-60 feet away from the computer but they don’t sound anywhere as good as these, and have recently developed a problem charging and/or holding a charge, which is why I bought these Tozo earbuds).

Direkt getestet, direkt begeistert!

These are excellent earphones. Easy to use, great noise cancelling, touch controls on the earphones. Charges easily, doesnt take too long and lasts ages. I dont use for long periods at a time, so have lasted weeks. I listen to a thing for up to an hour almost every night. Very good price, well worth it. Vibrant colour, and comes with different sized bud covers to fit your ears. Comfortable to wear, but cannot lie on your side, presses the earphones in too much it hurts, plus the touch controls are sensitive, so starts stops switches off NC etc. Overall 10 out of 10 for me, good sound in my opinion also. Have used them at full volume and no distortion. I dont advise it as bad for your hearing!

It does its job well, good quality, connection, and charges quickly. I didn’t read the manual, so I kind of learned all the functions by chance, and its very simple to maneuvre. I don’t know why I would spend an extra $100 to get fancy pair of brand-name earbuds. These work just as well. Its a little large to fit in my ears and do hurt after long time usage, but otherwise I would highly recommend for moderate use. I switch between my normal earphones and earbuds anyway since I don’t like to completely block out external sounds all the time. (The ANC is superb)
